A UK top 50 law firm with a strong focus on property law is seeking a Solicitor - Social Housing to join their highly regarded Social Housing Team in Norwich. Ranked Tier 1 in Chambers and Legal 500, the team provides comprehensive legal services to the affordable housing sector, offering expertise in a wide range of issues affecting the sector.
The Solicitor - Social Housing's Role
The successful Solicitor - Social Housing will support members of the Social Housing Team in managing a caseload of disrepair claims brought against clients. This includes assisting with county court possession claims and injunction applications, especially in cases involving anti-social behaviour. The Solicitor - Social Housing will also aid the team in advising Housing Association and Local Authority clients on Leasehold Management disputes in the First Tier Tribunal.
The Solicitor - Social Housing will:
- Manage a caseload of disrepair cases.
- Handle county court possession claims and injunction applications on grounds of anti-social behaviour, tenancy breaches, access, succession, and tenancy fraud.
- Use software packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel to produce correspondence, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations to a high standard.
- Format, paginate, number, and present pleadings in the firm's house style or client standard form.
- Proofread all work for spelling and grammar errors.
The Solicitor - Social Housing
The ideal candidate will have previous litigation experience and possess the following skills and attributes:
- Experience working with Housing Associations or Local Authorities (preferred but not essential).
- Excellent computer/technical skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external contacts.
- Discretion and a positive, enthusiastic approach to teamwork.
- A flexible, proactive, and 'can do' working style.
- Self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to provide proactive support to the Social Housing team.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development.
