Are you an ambitious supply chain / planning professional seeking a role within an organisation that can offer long term career development? My client, a well-established manufacturer now has an excellent opportunity for a Materials Planner to join their team in Tameside.

Purpose of the role:

To provide effective and collaborative account management of the established supply chain and be responsible for ensuring all planning, ordering and delivery of materials is done accurately and on time in line with latest production plans.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accountable for the scheduling of materials of designated commodities to meet the needs of the manufacturing schedule, delivering the agreed level of material availability within budgeted inventory targets.
  • Creation of purchase orders and communication of requirements with suppliers.
  • Actioning of MRP messages/alerts daily to ensure material supply is aligned to production schedule requirements.
  • Liaising with Production Schedulers/Supply Planner following the identification of late to schedule or missing parts to ensure alignment to the plan is maintained.
  • Track progress against schedule, make changes as necessary to accommodate priorities and constraints
  • Build and maintain operational partnerships with assigned commodity suppliers and act as the primary interface on delivery status, issues and resolution.
  • Monitor material consumption & product lead times, liaising closely with Procurement to support vendor management and attending quarterly review meetings with suppliers
  • Cross function collaboration with the Quality team to ensure issue resolution/mitigation with the supplier and relaying any key information back into the Planning team.
  • Review relevant commodity inventory, identifying risk of obsoletion, developing and executing mitigating action plans.
  • Proactively communicate with the Supply Planner and/or Planning Manager any issues/concerns that will impact the plan success.

The successful candidate will be experienced in a supply chain role within a manufacturing environment. You will have excellent communication skills and show an aptitude for learning new skills and processes. Candidates with knowledge of SAP will be of particular interest.
