The responsibilities of the Senior Site Chemist:

  • Ensure incoming consignments of waste have appropriate paperwork completed and copies are held on site and passed to the haulier
  • Ensure incoming waste is inspected to BAT requirements
  • If waste does not match pre-acceptance information ensure that the correct procedure is followed a non conformance is raised with supporting evidence
  • Make sure all paper work is appropriately scanned and saved in the correct database folder
  • Work to 48 hour KPI's for incoming loads to be accepted and associated paperwork is passed over for post acceptance.
  • Ensure waste is being appropriately stored inline with the correct guidance.
  • Make sure all waste is labelled correctly with the label appropriately visible when it enters the storage bay
  • Sampling of accepted waste to supply to internal laboratory for further analysis or to pass on to suppliers
  • Generation of IPO's in line with the IPO procedure
  • Promote a positive Health and Safety driven environment
  • Prioritising the disposal of waste where applicable by rerouting to internal disposal options.
  • Additional duties as requested by senior management in line with the capabilities of the role holder
  • Support and contribute to the companies overall objectives and aims
  • Ensure all incidents, observations and concerns are reported through the correct process
  • Ensure compliance is of a high standard
  • Compliance with emissions goals when driving company vehicles or otherwise driving on company business.

The successful Senior Site Chemist must:

  • Have HNC or Degree Level qualification in Chemistry or a similar related field
  • Experience and knowledge of the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
  • Knowledge of the Health and Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at work regulations 1999.
  • Experience to working to HSG51 – The storage of flammable liquids in containers and HSG71 Chemical Warehousing: The Storage of Packaged Dangerous Substances
