Hourly Care Assistant for a Computer Games Design Uni Student
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a young man who is soon to commence studying Computer Games Design at Portsmouth University.He is looking for a like-minded person to join his care team of PAs who provide his personal care and independent living support: this is a great opportunity to make a positive impact in a young adult's life.
Start: September 2024
Shift Pattern: Between 3 and 4 days per week on a two-week rolling rota / a mixture of day and night shifts
Hours: 12 hour shift / start & finish times will be discussed during the interview
Location: Portsmouth University(PO1 2UP)
Pay: £15 p/h
Holidays: 5.6 weeks holiday pro rata
About our Client
Our client is a young man with a diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.He is a full- time powered wheelchair user and relies on the assistance of dedicated caregivers to maintain his independence and well-being. Your responsibilities will encompass every aspect of daily life to ensure their comfort and quality of life.
He is a creative, passionate gamer who loves exploring new worlds in games like SIMS 4, Minecraft, and Assassins Creed, and is a huge Marvel and Star Wars fan. He's looking for a positive, supportive PA to assist with daily tasks, including personal care, mobility, and campus navigation. If you share his interests and enjoy a good chat, this could be the perfect role for you!

" Despite my many struggles throughout my life, I always try to be independent where I can and keep a positive and optimistic mindset. My family and support network have always tried to be the same, so I would be looking for somebody who is positive and willing to try new things.
During times when I am chilling and/or socialising with friends, I will need setting up with various activities but won't require full time supervision, however will require you to be on hand when needed. While at university, I will require similar support to that of a normal day.
One of my main hobbies is gaming as I am a passionate gamer and like to play a variety of genres as a way to escape the stresses of everyday life and imagine that I am in that world. I enjoy the feeling of escapism when watching films, TV series and reading books. I'm a huge Marvel and Star Wars enthusiast where I have seen all corresponding films and spin off series. This is another reason for choosing Game Design as my interests inspire ideas for my projects.
I feel that I am a well-rounded person, good humoured and enjoy a good chat but will also listen and take on board what others have said.
