We have an amazing opportunity to join the Waste Operations Team as an Operations Manager. This role is based at Greenwich and is responsible for some of our largest and prestigious assets in the wastewater network.
The role also has key interfaces and accountabilities with the new super sewer, Tideway Tunnel as we go into a historic time of commissioning.
As the Operations Manager you will lead a team to provide an essential service to our customers in South London and have a key role in protecting the environment. You will be responsible to manage the performance of the team, drive change and develop the team.
What you'll be doing as the Operations Manager
- Responsible for the performance, operation and maintenance of the pumping stations and the sewage network in South London.
- Promote and drive a proactive H&S culture within your team, ensuring high standards are met.
- Leading a team of 25 Managers and Technicians to deliver an essential customer service and protecting the environment.
- Responsible for Stakeholder and customer management associated with the management of the operational sites.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to drive forward our turnaround plan focusing on the environment.
What should you bring to the role?
- Proven working experience of successfully managing an operational team, being able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to develop, coach, motivate and engage a team.
- Experience in leading a strong Health & Safety culture, driving and creating an environment where good practices are a way of everyday life.
- A leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of collaborative working and building teams.
- Strategic planning to create continuous improvement plans to provide future resilience to the operation and the team.
- Previous experience in the Water Industry is preferable, but not essential as there are many transferable skills to the role form other industries such as production, manufacturing, transport, military, recycling, logistics, engineering etc
