Learning Support Assistant - Hearing Impairment Support (Additional Resourced Provision)

A GOOD-rated Ofsted primary school in Redbridge is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their Additional Resourced Provision (ARP) team, supporting children with hearing impairments.
Role Overview:
- Position: Learning Support Assistant (Hearing Impairment Support)

- Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only
- Duration: Fixed-term for the full academic year, with potential for a permanent position
- BSL Requirement: BSL Level 2 or above is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with hearing impairments within the ARP, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum and participate in all school activities.
- Utilize British Sign Language (BSL) to communicate effectively with students, ensuring clarity in lessons, instructions, and social interactions.
- Assist in the adaptation of learning materials and resources to meet the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and specialist staff to implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment that promotes engagement, confidence, and independence.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers, participating in planning and review meetings as needed.
- Support the social, emotional, and communication development of students, fostering resilience and self-reliance.
Requirements:
- BSL Level 2 or above is highly preferred, with strong skills in British Sign Language communication.
- Prior experience working with children with hearing impairments or in a similar SEN setting.
- A genuine passion for working in education and supporting children's holistic development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and flexibility to adapt to different learning needs and situations.
- Relevant qualifications in education, child development, or SEN support are desirable but not essential.
