Your duties will encompass the entire project lifecycle—from initial measurement, scoping, and tendering to subcontractor management and final accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with client-side Project Quantity Surveyors/Cost Managers.
  • Conduct subcontractor cost analysis and manage subcontractor orders.
  • Provide commercial advice, guidance, and support to project management and delivery teams.
  • Prepare budget costings, bills of quantities, and commercial reports.
  • Manage several projects simultaneously, ensuring compliance with contractual and commercial requirements.
  • Maximise cash positions and forecast cash flow.
  • Prepare and submit final accounts, and manage subcontractor payments and variations.

Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • At least 5 years in a similar role within the construction industry, preferably with a main or fit-out contractor.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial and construction contracts, especially JCT contracts.
  • Experience working with schedules of rates and frameworks.
  • Retail construction background is preferred but not essential.

Skills:

  • Strong commercial reporting, numerical, and IT skills.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and workloads effectively.
  • Experience with IT systems, including Word and Excel.
  • Capable of identifying and managing risks and driving process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE Standard (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Degree, BTEC, or HND/HNC (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related fields preferred.
