Senior Production Manager

A Senior Production Manager is required to oversee all production operations, ensuring safety, efficiency and quality control in the timber processing sector. The role will be based in Lockerbie and will involve managing a large team within the Production department.

Description

  • Reporting to the General Manager, you will be a prominent member of the leadership team, responsible for all primary production operations across 2 sawmills and log yards at our clients site in Lockerbie.
  • Your priorities will focus on operational output & efficiency, quality and safety across the entire processing of timber from the log yard to the initial stages of sawmilling.
  • Ensuring safety regulations are adhered to throughout all processes.
  • Maintaining high levels of quality control.
  • Line management and leadership for managers and supervisors of both mills and their respective teams, ensuring all parts of the employee lifecycle is supported.
  • Driving continuous improvement to improve operational effectiveness, efficiency and increase output using Lean principles.
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth operation.
  • Reporting to senior management on production status and issues.
  • Staying updated with latest industry trends and best practices.

Profile

To be successful in the role you will be:

  • Highly experienced production manager operating as part of a senior leadership team.
  • Whilst a degree in a relevant discipline such as Business, Engineering or Science would be advantageous, it is not essential, however you must have substantial experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of continuous improvement in a production environment, with a successful track record in implementing successful change initiatives.
  • A previous manager and leader that excels in motivating and mentoring others to reach their potential.
  • A strong communicator who can positively influence from the factory floor to Directors.
  • A deep understanding and practice of Health & Safety legislation.
