We are partnered with a global specialty chemistry company on their search for an experienced commercial counsel to support their in-house legal function from Ellesmere Port.

Client Details

Our client is a fast-growing and innovative global chemical manufacturing company that provide products and services across several markets, including agrochemicals, construction, fuel, metal extraction, oilfield & more.

Their main three business units are:

  • Fuel Specialties
  • Oilfield Services
  • Performance Chemicals

With research centres, facilities and operations across 22 countries, they currently employ approximately 2,100 professionals and are looking to grow their legal function from Ellesmere Port.

Description

Main responsibilities for commercial counsel include:

  • drafting and negotiating range of standard and bespoke agreements;
  • provide day to day legal advice on all matters affecting all business divisions in EMEA and ASPAC;
  • update and improve precedents where appropriate;
  • support on IP licensing and collaborations;
  • support with compliance;
  • develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external contacts;
  • provide ad hoc support to other corporate functions such as HR, IT, Tax and Corporate;
  • assist with training.

Profile

A successful Commercial Counsel should have:

  • at least 3 years' PQE;
  • experience in commercial contracts;
  • experience working for a global organisation (preferred);
  • a basic knowledge of compliance legislation;
  • demonstrable ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in team;
  • IP licensing experience (advantageous).

You'll also be local to Ellesmere Port and able to work on hybrid basis.
