My client, one of the leading FMCG businesses in the North West, are looking to recruit a Commercial Finance Business Partner to join their sociable and busy head office.

Our client is seeking a Commercial Finance Business Partner to join their high-profile, business-facing commercial finance team. This role will provide clear and insightful financial information to support the trading team, driving category sales and margin growth. The successful candidate will be instrumental in presenting category sales and margin performance at weekly trading meetings, reporting daily margin performance, and providing insightful analysis to enhance product/promotional sales.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong commercial awareness, numeracy skills, and a desire to question and challenge information.

What you'll do:

As a Commercial Finance Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the trading team with clear, insightful financial information. Your excellent analytical skills will be put to use as you present category sales and margin performance at weekly trading meetings, report on daily margin performance versus budget at product group level, and provide insightful analysis to enhance product/promotional sales. You will also be responsible for scenario planning the impact on sales and margins for potential price changes and promotions. Your collaborative nature will shine as you work closely with category buying managers during the budgeting process.

  • Present category sales and margin performance at weekly trading meetings
  • Report daily margin performance vs budget at product group level
  • Provide insightful analysis to support and enhance product/promotional sales and margin performance
  • Scenario plan the impact to sales and margin for potential price and promotion changes
  • Support the Budget and Half yearly company forecast process by working closely with the category buying managers
  • Contribute actively to short, medium, and long term margin and Commercial income reforecasts forecasts
  • Support trading team with supplier negotiations ensuring deep understanding of supplier profitability as well as impacts of costs and retail movements
  • Lead pricing reviews to measure the competitiveness of our prices within the market

What you bring:

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent)
  • Strong commercial awareness and numeracy skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment
  • FMCG / retail experience advantageous
  • Ability to question and challenge information
  • Experience in delivering and monitoring financial performance
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential
