We are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant/ Assistant Accountant to join a family-run company at Ransomes Europark. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of accounting experience OR AAT Level 2 qualification and above. This role offers the opportunity for further study and progression within the company.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Oversee the accounts function and provide assistance to other business areas as required.
  • Monitor and maintain the Accounts email, ensuring all items are actioned or passed on appropriately and promptly.
  • Handle incoming telephone calls and deal with internal & external queries promptly.
  • Engage in month-end processes, reconciliations, forecasts, and management accounts.
  • Perform cash flow forecasting and bank reconciliations.
  • Execute credit control and weekly rating checks, as well as sales invoice runs.
  • Reconcile sales and import to Sage, and issue subcontractor recharge invoices.
  • Manage payroll activities, including setting up new employees and verifying drivers' overtime.
  • Analyse weekly wages & expenses and calculate driver bonuses.
  • Process and update holiday records for drivers.
  • Check and update subcontractor invoices for payment processing.
  • Input purchase ledger invoices to Sage and process payment runs.
  • Agree and process contras, along with weekly profit reporting and fuel monitoring.
  • Complete quarterly VAT returns and reconcile monthly P32 reports.
  • Undertake ad-hoc accounts and administration projects as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • AAT Level 2 qualification as a minimum.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Experience with Sage is preferable but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
