Our client is Tier 1 Main Contractor renowned for delivering high-quality commercial construction projects across the North East region. With a diverse portfolio that includes office developments, retail spaces, educational facilities, healthcare buildings, and more.

Position Overview:

They are seeking an experienced and dedicated Quantity Surveyor to join the team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing costs and ensuring the financial efficiency of projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates, manage budgets, and ensure project costs are controlled within agreed limits.
  • Procurement: Oversee the procurement process, including preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and selecting subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Contract Administration: Administer contracts, including issuing instructions, managing variations, and ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Valuations: Conduct regular valuations of work in progress and prepare accurate and timely payment applications.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce comprehensive financial reports, including cash flow forecasts, cost reports, and final accounts.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks and implement effective mitigation strategies to minimise impact on project costs and timelines.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with clients, project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant legal, contractual, and company standards and policies.
  • Value Engineering: Propose and implement value engineering solutions to optimise project value and reduce costs without compromising quality.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB) preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within a Tier 1 Main Contractor environment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools (e.g., MS Office, CostX, Bluebeam).
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Valid UK driving license is ideal.
