Junior Service Engineer

If you are passionate about engineering, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Our client is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Service Engineer to join their team. This early career professional role is dual-focused on product and customer, acting as the technical liaison between the field service organisation and the Engineering, Quality, & Manufacturing teams.

The goal will be to proactively identify, define, and prioritise product issues and implement short and long-term solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate Product/System Problems: Understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, and document results with guidance from more experienced team members.
  • Support Problem Solving Processes: Apply and support product problem-solving processes such as the seven-step problem-solving approach and tools like the product development roadmap to enable high-quality repair events.
  • Prepare Service Channel: Ensure parts and special tools are available, service information (including diagnostics) is accurate and translated, and special care is ready for customers of new products.
  • Collaborate with Technical Experts: Work with experts in failure analysis and data trends to implement final product resolutions to reduce customer downtime.
  • Problem Resolution: Take responsibility for resolving moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems, or services with increasing technical complexity and ambiguity as experience is gained in the role.
  • Execute Work Processes Independently: Provide independent execution of established work processes and systems while developing technology or product knowledge.
  • Coordinate Work: Occasionally coordinate and direct the work of technicians
  • Contribution: Effectively work toward team goals, exhibit influence within a work group, and develop proficiency in critical competency areas.

Competencies:

  • Field Investigation and Support: Gather and communicate technical information between technical problem solvers and the service channel about product or process-related issues using proven problem-solving techniques.
  • Product Failure Mode Avoidance: Identify interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, noise factors, and potential failure modes/causes to improve the reliability of our client's products.
  • Product Failure Reporting and Corrective/Preventive Action Systems: Lead a process to record, prioritise, and resolve product failures using cross-functional reviews, rigorous problem-solving methods, data management tools, and project management practices.
  • Product Serviceability Requirements and Review: Publish procedures for technicians to safely repair and maintain products, ensuring repairable components are accessible.
  • Technical Customer Management: Represent our client to customers by providing engineering data, documentation, and training to support equipment design and integration.
  • Technical Service Information: Create information necessary for the service channel to troubleshoot and repair products efficiently and effectively.
