Assistant Retail Manager

A reputable multi-asset brokerage firm in London, specialising in luxury assets is opening a new luxury spirit and wine store in summer 2024.

They are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Retail Manager to join their team at our luxury spirit and wine store in Central London. Working closely with the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the store while delivering exceptional customer service and promoting our premium range of single malt whiskies, spirits, fine wines, and more.

The store is based in Knightsbridge in Central London and the role is paying up to £40,000 plus benefits including commission or bonus, and offers progression opportunities as the company expands further.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the General Manager in recruiting, training, leading and managing a high-performing team dedicated to delivering unrivalled customer service.
  • Develop strong, long-term relationships with retail clients by offering exceptional levels of service and product knowledge.
  • Assist in the execution of the annual marketing calendar, including in-store tastings, customer events, and promotions across all channels.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager in managing stock levels, ordering inventory, and ensuring accurate stock management.
  • Contribute to identifying areas for growth and commercial opportunities within the business, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Work closely with the Buying Manager to support relationships with suppliers.
  • Assist in maintaining a comprehensive view of current industry trends and competitor activities to inform business strategies.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience in premium retail management within the wine and spirit industry.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • WSET Level 3 Wine and/or WSET Level 3 Spirits certification or equivalent or above, with a strong knowledge base in the whisky and/or fine wine sector (ideally).
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a passion for fine wines, champagne, spirits, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
