Analyst (Finance/ M&A) - Energy Group - Corporate Function

My client, a leading energy group , is looking to hire an analyst into their growing corporate function. The organisation has a high-performance culture and is headquartered in London. Role:

  • Maintain, develop, and enhance the inputs, calculations, and outputs of the Group Corporate model.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to evaluate financial scenarios, optimize decision-making, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial forecasts.
  • Serve as a shared resource within the broader team to assist in executing key tasks.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Offer a proficient alternative to running the Group Corporate model, with capabilities for conducting sensitivity analysis on factors like market prices, interest rates, inflation, and foreign exchange.
  • Engage with Business Units to provide assurance on fiscal and financial model updates.
  • Conduct reviews and reconciliations between business unit financial models and the Corporate model.
  • Oversee the Corporate model tracker, ensuring it is updated, improved, and that adequate controls are in place for its distribution.
  • Ensure the integrity of changes made to the Corporate model.
  • Lead the update of the Long Range Plan Corporate model, ensuring alignment with outputs from business units.
  • Ensure the Corporate model reflects the latest management accounts.
  • Deliver analysis on Corporate impact and strategic initiatives.
  • Review going concern assessments, long-term viability statements, and working capital projections related to M&A activities.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to simplify, standardize, and streamline processes and data flow associated with long-term consolidation and planning.

Required skills / profiles

  • A strong academic background in a relevant core discipline, such as finance, economics, or a technical field.
  • Extensive experience with financial modelling techniques, Excel/VBA, and other relevant tools, ideally with experience in international fiscal regimes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other industry-standard information systems and databases.
  • Quick learner with a self-motivated mindset, capable of grasping new concepts efficiently and working independently when necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex financial concepts to diverse, multi-disciplinary audiences.
  • Experience in oil and gas project economics, including production sharing contracts.
  • A solid understanding of the oil and gas exploration, appraisal, development, and production lifecycle.
