We are currently on the lookout for a Commercial Finance Business Partner to join a unique and vibrant company that values diversity and teamwork. We are currently seeking the right person to enhance the organisation's Commercial Finance team whilst working closely with the Buying element of the business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong commercial influencing skills.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Serve as the primary financial liaison between the core finance team and the Buying team.
  • Present category sales and margin performance at weekly trading meetings to the Category Buying Managers and the Category Trading Director.
  • Report daily margin performance versus budget at the product group level, providing insightful commentary on week-on-week movements.
  • Conduct insightful analysis to support and enhance product/promotional sales and margin performance, proactively challenging performance when required.
  • Engage in scenario planning to assess the impact of potential price and promotion changes on sales and margin.
  • Support the Budget and Half-yearly company forecast process by collaborating closely with category buying managers to produce category-level budgets for sales, margin, and commercial income.
  • Contribute actively to short, medium, and long-term margin and commercial income reforecasts, with a clear understanding of how current trading performance may impact margin versus budget.
  • Assist the trading team with supplier negotiations by ensuring a deep understanding of supplier profitability as well as impacts of costs and retail movements.
  • Lead pricing reviews to assess the competitiveness of our prices within the market and drive appropriate corrective actions.
  • Review and challenge proposed trade plans for upcoming promotional cycles, identifying risks and opportunities versus budget.
  • Provide insightful analysis and review on feature space and deals performance to support future business trading team decisions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commercial awareness and numeracy skills, with a keen desire to question and challenge information.
  • Demonstrated experience in helping businesses deliver and monitor financial performance, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential.
  • Part qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) is desirable, but not essential.
