Control Room Operator - Temporary Position - Redhill

Do you have experience working within a Control Room? Being in-charge of the day-to-day CCTV operations whilst also being able to multi-task and think on your feet when it comes to prioritising tasks that come in. If so, this could be the perfect position for you where you will be in charge of your day, most of the time working autonomously and on your own initiative.

This role would be perfect for someone who has previous experience either working within a control room, CCTV room with a mixture of admin and customer service too, security room etc.

This is a temporary position for 3/6 months with the intention of then going permanent.

Main duties:

  • Responding to telephone calls and other correspondence outside normal office hours.
  • Responsible for monitoring all alarms on the companies network.
  • Monitoring of the Company's SCADA system outside normal office hours.
  • Responding to alarms from Company sites outside normal office hours.
  • Responding to intruder and fire alarms outside normal office hours.
  • Operation of the Company's telephone and private business radio system.
  • Operation of the Company's CCTV surveillance system.
  • Frequent contact with customers, developers, authorities and Company employees of all levels, passing messages and providing advice.
  • Recording of all radio/telephone messages received and passed.
  • Recording of complaints and enquiries on the Company's Customer Contact and Billing System.
  • Responsible for calling out Networks, Production and Contracts Department staff outside of normal office hours.
  • Co-ordination of planned and emergency works both inside outside normal office hours.
  • Responsible for the issue and return of Company keys.
  • Recording and compilation of statistics and records.

Working conditions:

  • Based at head office in Redhill.
  • Office environment - Operator to remain in Control Room throughout shift (all facilities provided).
  • 12-hour (continuous) shift rota
  • Working unsupervised and on own initiative.
  • A uniform is provided and expected to be worn on all shifts and Company business.

  • Good team player.
  • Ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to liaise with people at all levels and to work unsupervised.
  • Possess good listening, written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to use own initiative and to identify possible problems before they occur.
  • Ability to work flexibly
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • High level of communication and organisational skills
