Teaching Assistant with SEND Experience

Location: Sheffield (S10 area)

Position: Full-Time Teaching Assistant (SEND Experience)

Are you dedicated to providing exceptional support for children with special educational needs (SEN)? Do you have a compassionate nature and the patience to work one-to-one with a child in a supportive learning environment? If so, we want you to join our team.

We are seeking a committed and experienced Teaching Assistant to work one-to-one with a child with SEN in a Year 4 class. This full-time role will be based at our moderately sized primary school in the S10 area of Sheffield. The position starts in September 2024 and is fixed term until at least Easter 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a child with SEN in a Year 4 class.
  • Assist in implementing individualised education plans (IEP's) tailored to the child's needs.
  • Adapt learning activities to suit the child's requirements and ensure inclusive participation in all classroom activities.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing environment to aid the child's learning and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor and report on the child's progress.
  • Engage in regular communication with the child's parents or guardians regarding their development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs is essential.
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.
  • A Team Teaching qualification is desirable but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting children's development.
  • A genuine passion for education and commitment to supporting the individual needs of pupils.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm.
