Mechanical Design Engineer Part 21 and cabin

Our client, a leader in the aerospace interior industry, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Part 21J and cabin design. As part of their expanding team, you will play a key role in developing, integrating, and documenting interior payload system requirements for large aircraft modifications. You will ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements, as well as the company's Design Organisation Handbook.
In this role, based the EASA Modifications Team, you will work alongside a highly skilled team of engineers, utilising your experience in CAD to develop engineering design solutions. These solutions will include modifications to cabin layout, installation of galleys and lavatories, improvements to environmental systems, introduction of new paint schemes, and installation/modification of crew rest stations. You will also produce substantiation documents, attend meetings and aircraft surveys, and provide on-site installation support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering design solutions for aircraft cabin systems
  • Produce substantiation documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Attend meetings and provide on-site installation support
  • Support statement of work and bids for new customer requests
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, MROs, and regulatory agencies
  • Undertake various design projects from simple changes to complex STCs
  • Attend training courses for skills development
  • Occasional national and/or international travel may be required

Basic Qualifications:

  • BEng Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3 years of aircraft interiors mechanical/structural design engineering experience
  • Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory and airworthiness requirements
  • Experience with 3D or CAD software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current or recent appointment as an EASA Compliance Verification Engineer
  • Experience with aircraft interior reconfiguration programs
  • CATIA V5 and/or AutoCAD industrial experience
  • Understanding of sheet metal forming/fabrication/machining
  • Attention to detail and professional integrity
  • Ability to work on multiple programs efficiently and effectively
  • Flexibility and prioritisation skills
