Accounts Manager

An established SME manufacturer with a significant presence throughout the UK and Europe is seeking an experienced Finance professional. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of Sage/Sage 50 and will be responsible for taking full control of the business's day-to-day accounts functions. A professional accounts qualification is preferred, but extensive proven experience will also be considered.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Configuring and managing Sage 50 Cloud.
  • Handling sales orders, invoicing, payments, and credits.
  • Conducting bank reconciliation and managing journals.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns with advanced VAT knowledge.
  • Managing debtor credit control.
  • Processing supplier and staff payments.
  • Handling foreign currencies, EC sales lists, and Intrastat.
  • Overseeing project job costing.
  • Producing monthly management accounts and reporting.
  • Managing import/export activities.
  • Performing day-to-day office administration tasks.
  • Answering incoming calls and handling enquiries.
  • Managing day-to-day administration such as fire alarm service, maintaining H&S book, utilities, etc.
  • Assisting with year-end activities including stock-taking, accounts finalisation, and liaising with external accountants.
  • Administering holidays tracking and expenses.
  • Overseeing consumable and parts administration.
  • Maintaining the building's general upkeep and organisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Sage/Sage 50.
  • Professional accounts qualification is preferred, or extensive proven experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of VAT, bank reconciliation, and credit control.
  • Experience with foreign currencies and understanding of EC sales lists and Intrastat.
  • Proficiency in project job costing and monthly management accounts.
  • Competence in import/export procedures.
  • Good IT skills, particularly in MS Office.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage administrative tasks.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a small office team.
