Jonathan Lee Recruitment is looking for an experienced and collaborative Body Design Engineer of Trim Parts to join our client's inclusive and friendly team. This 12-month contract role based in Cranfield comes with a favourable rate of £30.78 per hour PAYE - Inside IR35.
As a Body Design Engineer, you will carry out design activities related to innovative technologies, cost optimization, and breakthrough ideas related to BEV (Battery EV) vehicles, focusing on future vehicles as well as current production. You will also carry out the work necessary to deliver part and system design tasks on trim parts - Acoustic and Aerodynamics related (Insulation, Carpet, Under Cover, Diffuser, Luggage Area), with cost, quality, and timing as key metrics.
During your first few weeks in this flexible role, you can expect to begin work on some of the following:
- Study technical solutions benchmark, FMEA, design parts and systems, build business cases, lead validation, and adoption of the new design
- Lead/support communication and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with a broad range of entities across the organisation, including technical and business centres in Europe and Japan, R&D, and India support centres
To apply for this Body Design Engineer position, your soft skills, expertise, and experience should include:
- Minimum HNC/HND+ or international equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience working with trim parts - Acoustic and Aerodynamics related (Insulation, Carpet, Under Cover, Diffuser, Luggage Area)
- Extensive experience in automotive design, minimum Tier 1 supplier, OEM preferred
