Posted by Reed.

I am excited to be working alongside an established and forward-thinking Multi Academy Trust in the Barnsley area to support their opening of a brand new, SEND provision, from September 2024.

Reed Education are delighted to offer exclusive access to this opportunity, that you will find nowhere else!

We seek to appoint an inspirational and ambitious Teacher to join this vibrant and inclusive setting in Barnsley; a role you will undertake at the inception of the school.

The setting:

You will join a 15 place SEND provision, supporting children whose main needs are communication and interaction, and SEMH. As a brand new build, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with staff to create a learning environment, rich in the ethos of the Trust, but in your image.

The school will comprise of two learning areas/classes, housing between 4 and 8 pupils in each. Students are in Ks1 and Ks2, with the youngest actually of Year 2 age.

The setting will likely grow in size over year 1 of education, from 10 to 15.

We're looking for a teacher who:

  • Can engage children and understands how to tailor tasks to engage children who struggle to concentrate and engage with tasks, helping all meet their potential.
  • Understands the primary curriculum, the prior and previous learning that needs to be considered in order to plan progression.
  • Understands how to deliver provision, differentiated accordingly, to meet EHCP outcomes to ensure successful outcomes – again supporting SEND needs
  • Can deliver a variety of learning opportunities within a classroom setting
  • Is fair and constant and able to manage behaviour to good effect

We're hoping you'll have a working knowledge of:

  • Teaching tools that support the Communication & Interaction approach – PECS, Makaton, Visual Scaffolding, Teach, Attention Autism
  • Assessment tools such as TIVATS, Tapestry and Cherry Garden
  • How to work to an Unconditional Positive ethos
  • How to work using a Restorative Approach
  • Team Teach, the practice of de-escalation and how to support positive behaviours in education

In return, you will receive:

  • Pay in line with your Scale Point + SEND allowance
  • The support of an expert leadership team, both from Trust level and within your peer network of SEND practitioners across different sites
  • A commitment to support your CPD through both internal and external training, plus the opportunity to access National Professional Qualifications
  • A health and wellbeing package
  • A cycle to work scheme
  • Gym membership rewards
  • Access to a salary sacrifice EV car scheme

This is a truly fantastic opportunity to work in a setting of great local importance, supporting the most vulnerable pupils in the community and making a true difference.

Exclusively available through Reed Education, we are coordinating interviews with the Trust, scheduled for 20th June.

Please apply below and we will be in touch ASAP!
