Consultant Psychiatrist Male PICU Ward

Working at our clients Hospital which is an elegant 18th century country residence set in beautiful parkland close to the city centre, less than 5 minutes away from the M32 leading directly onto the M4/M5 motorways. The hospital has 77 beds spread across seven wards with services varying from Eating Disorders, Acute Mental Health, Adult Psychiatric Intensive Care, Acquired Brain Injury, Huntingdon's and Dementia.

This is an employed post to take consultant responsibility for general psychiatry on their 10 bedded female acute inpatient ward, working with patients coming to this private hospital from referrals from the NHS.

This is a full time employed post to take consultant responsibility for general psychiatry on our 10 bedded male PICU inpatient ward, working with patients coming to the hospital from referrals from the NHS.

This ward has a Multidisciplinary Team including a Speciality Doctor.

We now have a vacancy for a dedicated full-time Consultant Psychiatrist on our male-only psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU). The service will accept admissions 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from local NHS and other parts of the United Kingdom. We seek to appoint a highly motivated Consultant Psychiatrist to complement our existing medical work force. As a Consultant Psychiatrist you would lead a multidisciplinary team of professionals from nursing, clinical psychology, social work and occupational therapy and a Specialty Doctor who will form part of the MDT.

The Hospital operates a non-residential medical on call rota and the post holder is expected to participate on the on-call rota.

Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR).

Candidates must have a higher medical qualification (MRCPsych or equivalent).

You will hold a CCST / CCT (or equivalent) in the relevant areas of Psychiatry and will have experience of working in inpatient and outpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties. You will have experience at consultant level psychiatry and will have held a consultant position in the NHS.

You will hold a current license to practice and be on the appropriate specialist register.

  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • AC approved and S12 approved MHA 1983
  • Previous experience as an NHS consultant
  • Acute inpatient and outpatient experience
  • CCT in General adult psychiatry
  • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary team and being a clinical leader
  • Experience of supervising junior medical staff
  • Experience of working with management team
  • Experience of service change and improvement
  • Experience of involvement in clinical governance and improvement
