BOOKKEEPER - ASSISTANT MANAGER

My client are a fast-growing, award-winning accountancy firm committed to providing exceptional accounting and advisory services to our clients. As they embark on an exciting phase of growth, they are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Bookkeeper to join our team.

Your priority will be to provide a bookkeeping service for clients and convert new and existing clients to Cloud. This role is a crucial one for the Cloud team to ensure VAT returns are accurate and submitted to deadlines and provide clients with meaningful management figures that will help with their decision-making processes.

This role will allow you to use your knowledge and abilities to work to deadlines to provide a beneficial service to our clients. You will be responsible for ensuring that all data information is handled confidentially and providing support to clients to make sound decisions for their company.

An important part of the role is being able build great relationships with clients and understand their business, which will allow you to identify and communicate ways in which they can improve their efficiencies within their finance department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Control the workflow across the team and be able to prioritise departments work to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Review teams bookkeeping work to maximise efficiencies and accuracy of work, from an accounts and VAT perspective and identify any weaknesses/inefficiencies within the team and with the clients set up to establish further training requirements.
  • Completing initial periods of bookkeeping using cloud-based software and automation to set up new clients with the right processes and systems to be able to delegate efficiently to the team members.
  • Rectifying historical bookkeeping issues on an adhoc basis.
  • Provide bookkeeping training and assistance to clients (face to face and online) on Xero, Dext and other apps required.
  • Assist with conversions to Xero from other bookkeeping software and be able to advise clients on an efficient set up using the app stack.
  • Ensure internal and client queries are responded to in a timely manner.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must be Xero Certified and have good knowledge of other software including Dext, A2X, etc
  • Strong understanding of accountancy and tax principles.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, excellent time management and organisation.
  • Decision-making and problem solving.
  • Ability to understand your team members and clients personalities and adapt your approach to each individual.
