We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Band 6 midwife for one of the trusts in Manchester. This trust is one of four 'specialist' hospital sites in Greater Manchester, enhancing general surgery, anaesthetics, critical care, and emergency medicine.
Description:
- Provide direct inpatient midwifery care within a safe environment, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the safety of women, birthing people, and their babies.
- Prioritize, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate midwifery care to a high standard.
- Ensure effective and sensitive communication between women, babies, their families, and the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
- Support the Ward Manager/Team Leader in monitoring delegated responsibilities.
- Participate in meetings discussing broad professional and service issues.
- Act as a resource for colleagues, providing expert knowledge.
- Maintain appropriate, accountable, and defensible patient documentation in accordance with Trust and NMC policies, and communicate changes in patient conditions to the MDT.
- Be competent in clinical skills for delivering high-quality midwifery care.
- Assist in organizing and managing multi-professional care for women and families.
- Perform and assess enhanced clinical skills to improve patient experience.
- Use all clinical equipment correctly and report any faults.
- Adhere to Child Protection, Vulnerable Adult, and Mental Health legislation.
- Promote and develop good working relationships with internal and external departments to ensure effective patient management.
Skills & Experience:
- Valid NMC registration as a Midwife and community experience.
- Experience with IV cannulations, suturing, scrubbing in theatre, epidural top-ups, and newborn resuscitation.
- Ability to evaluate midwifery care and apply NMC Midwives Rules and Code of Practice.
- Adaptability to new working practices and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to deal courteously with difficult people and a flexible approach to working hours.
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance.
