The Vacancy

As a Solicitor/Legal Executive in our Employment Team you will consistently deliver a high standard of legal advice to clients in a commercially astute manner and always deliver outstanding client service. You will also be required to assist with the marketing of the department's services and undertaking business development activities to build on the firm and team's reputation for excellence.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible candidate to join our employment team in one of our regional offices. We offer hybrid working with an expectation of working in the office for a minimum of 3 days each week.

The work in the employment team is varied and you will be advising both employer and employee clients on day to day employment matters such as managing disciplinaries and grievances, managing performance and absences, drafting contracts of employments, settlement agreements, TUPE transfer and employment tribunal claims.

Duties will include:

  • Manage a caseload of files, under supervision, dealing effectively with cases and transactions.
  • Deal directly with clients to take instructions and ensure full understanding in order to deliver on client expectations.
  • Works closely with partners and senior lawyers to develop client relationship skills.
  • Actively develop relationships with smaller clients.
  • Effectively scope and price work, under supervision
  • Raise personal profile and attract delegated work; take responsibility for aspects of BD projects within the department.
  • Take responsibility for aspects of business development projects in the department.
  • Research and draft article and assist with the production of marketing materials.
  • Begin to develop a network of clients, contacts, and potential referrers; attend relevant networking events.
  • Manage time recording, WIP monitoring and billing consistently on own and others' files and matters.
  • Work toward personal and team KPIs, measuring performance against these

Skills, Experience and Attributes

  • Qualified Solicitor NQ-3PQE
  • Previous experience within an Employment team (at least 1 seat if an NQ)
  • Ability to manage own files with minimal supervision
  • Strong client management skills with a focus on delivery of excellent client service
  • Organised and able to effectively prioritise
