About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join PA Media Academy as a SEND specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that apprentices with learning difficulties and disabilities have the opportunity to reach their full potential. This will be a mix of teaching, support and admin responsibilities.

This role is for one day a week on a fixed term contract up to 18 months, based at the PA Media Academy training centre in London EC4.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Identify any learning support an apprentice may need (for example for learners with conditions such as: dyslexia, physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and mental health conditions) so they receive the right support in their training sessions
  • Provide strategies to help and support each learner
  • Develop Individual Educational Plans to be agreed with the learner
  • Track progress and achievements every month
  • Provide a monthly report of support sessions to the Apprenticeship Training Manager
  • Assist trainers in planning sessions
  • Apply for assessment/exam concessions in liaison with an administrator, providing all relevant documentation
  • Provide functional skills support, if required

About you:

To be considered for the role you will need:

  • Experience in teaching or supporting learners with SEND, ideally in an FE environment
  • PGCE, DTLS or DET
  • Maths and English L2
  • Good ICT skills

Desirable qualifications include:

  • SENCO in an FE environment
  • NASENCO (or equivalent)
