Accounts Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join a public sector organisation based in Maidstone on a temporary basis. This role is to cover long-term sickness and requires an individual who is available for an immediate start and possesses a valid driving licence.
Day to day of the role:
- Assisting with the preparation of financial documents such as invoices, bills, and accounts payable and receivable.
- Completing bank reconciliations and processing payroll.
- Managing ledger entries and overseeing financial transactions.
- Supporting the finance team with budget preparation and financial reporting.
- Ensuring compliance with public sector financial regulations.
- Handling queries related to accounts and providing financial information to staff members.
- Assisting with end-of-month and year-end financial tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant or similar role.
- Familiarity with public sector accounting practices and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and strong skills in MS Excel.
- Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Must have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
