Financial Controller - Liverpool - £50k - £60k + benefits

Our client is a leading professional services firm, providing government energy efficiency grants. Due to continued growth and expansion within this market they are now looking to recruit a Financial Controller for their Liverpool branch.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring robust financial management and reporting. This role is critical in supporting their strategic objectives, maintaining financial health, and providing insights to drive business performance.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Lead the budgeting process, including preparation, analysis, and monitoring of budgets.
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts to aid in strategic planning.
  • Monitor and manage the company's cash flow to ensure financial stability.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and payable, ensuring effective credit control and timely payments.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation, including tax obligations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage performance, set objectives, and provide regular feedback to team members.
  • Collaborate with senior management to provide financial insights and support business initiatives.
  • Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Strong technical accounting skills with a thorough understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar financial control role within the professional services industry.
  • Proven track record of managing a finance team and delivering high-quality financial reporting.
  • Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach and attention to detail.

Hours - Monday - Friday - 8am - 5pm
