Salary: £32 – 35K per annum

Job Type: Full – Time, Permanent, Working 8:30am to 5:00pm (40 Hours per week)

Panel Wirer – The Role:

The Senior Panel Wirer will be responsible for assembling LV or MV switchgear and control panels according to engineering drawings and customer requirements. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Panel Wirer – Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to understand assembly requirements
  • Select and layout electrical components such as circuit breakers, relays, contactors, and terminal blocks
  • Wire and terminate electrical connections according to industry standards and best practices
  • Install and mount components inside enclosures or on mounting plates, ensuring proper alignment and spacing
  • Making alternations during panel builds and annotating drawings accordingly
  • Test and troubleshoot assembled panels to verify functionality and performance
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to resolve design issues or improve assembly processes
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior panel wirers to ensure quality and efficiency in panel assembly
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
  • Mark up drawings accordingly with any changes needed during the build process

Panel Wirer – You:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in electrical assembly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in panel wiring
  • Background in power generation
  • Strong knowledge of electrical components, wiring techniques, and assembly methods
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to use hand and power tools effectively and safely
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations and procedures
  • Ability to test panels to confirm that they are ready to be powered
