Our client, a leading transportation company, are looking for an experienced Transport Planner. We are looking for someone with exceptional organisational skills, to ensure safe movement of goods, in a complex transport planning environment.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in transport planning in a complex environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in planning and analysis.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to transportation challenges.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Negotiation skills for working with stakeholders and solving conflicts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and presentations.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-specialists.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis and interpretation.

The Role:

  • Developing and managing transportation systems to ensure efficient, safe, and sustainable movement of people and goods.
  • Planning 70 – 100 loads often for next day, ensuring they get out efficiently.
  • Data Collection and Analysis
  • Conducting surveys, traffic counts, and travel behaviour studies to gather data on current transport conditions.
  • Analysing data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities within the transportation system.
  • Developing plans for transportation infrastructure such as roads, railways, cycle paths, and pedestrian routes.
  • Creating models and simulations to predict future transport needs and assess the impact of proposed changes.
  • Advising on transportation policies, strategies, and regulations.
  • Promoting sustainable transport solutions to reduce environmental impact, such as encouraging the use of public transport, cycling, and walking.
  • Assessing environmental impacts of transportation projects and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Managing transportation projects from inception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating resources.
  • Overseeing the work of contractors and consultants involved in transportation projects.
  • Report Writing and Documentation
  • Preparing detailed reports, plans, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Documenting project progress, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Ensuring that transportation projects comply with local, regional, and national regulations.
  • Navigating planning and regulatory approval processes.
