About the Role

Dearne Valley College is looking to appoint a lecturer in Sports and Public Services, with experience in personal training and gym instructing who will make an enthusiastic contribution to this curriculum area working with our learners to ensure they achieve their full potential. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high-quality teaching, learning, assessment, alongside internal moderation across a range of courses, up to and including Higher Education.

The successful applicant will undertake course and/or module management as directed by their Line Manager and be expected to contribute to planning; preparation; marking; tracking of learner progress; communication with students, parents/carers and external stakeholders; student recruitment and enrolment events; personal development activities and invigilation.

The role of lecturer is to equip our students with skills for their future through the delivery of outstanding education and training and inspire students to achieve their potential. This role offers you the opportunity to do this every day. It is the job satisfaction that comes from this that makes a teaching role special. The key roles of a Lecturer are to deliver excellent teaching, completing the relevant preparation and marking that supports this, and to set SMART targets to enable students to reach their potential.

You will...

You will play an important role in developing creative and innovative resources to inspire outstanding learning and will be responsible for the monitoring and tracking of learner progress to promote positive outcomes for learners.

Candidates should be an effective and motivated team player, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues and management to achieve strategic and organisational objectives.

You will either hold or be willing to work towards your teaching qualification and should hold the relevant qualifications to be able to deliver a high standard of teaching to our students.

You will be able to bring the subject to life, using combined, innovative methods of teaching delivery which will engage your learners and provide them with the best skills, knowledge and behaviours for the future.

Department Info

You will work as part of the curriculum team of Sport & Public Services at Dearne Valley College, and take direction from the Curriculum Team Leader. You will be line managed by the Curriculum Manager.

In this role you will also work in collaboration with Personal Development Coordinators, Work Placement Officers and other internal departments such as examinations and curriculum administration.
