Role Overview:

This secondary school are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their supportive team. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain engaged and continue their learning in a structured environment. You will also support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with behavioural challenges, moderate learning difficulties, Autism, and ADHD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage classes during teacher absences, ensuring that students stay on task with the work set by the absent teacher.
  • Support students with SEN needs, including those with Autism, ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties, fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Implement and uphold school policies and procedures, maintaining a positive and disciplined learning atmosphere.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the SEN department to provide extra support to students with additional needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of learning activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress and any issues that arise during cover lessons.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with secondary school students, ideally in a supervisory or teaching assistant role.
  • Understanding and experience of supporting students with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and behavioural challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to adapt to the needs of individual students.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Current DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
