GSL Education is in search of a Science Teacher to fill a post at one of our client schools in Barnsley. The main factors that will determine your success in this role are your professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to the education of children.

Job Summary:

  • Explain fundamental principles and theories in subjects such as biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science.
  • Create comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
  • Motivate students to participate in science fairs, competitions, and extracurricular science activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will plan and deliver engaging and informative lessons in accordance with the national curriculum, tailored to the specific needs and abilities of your students.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of your subject area, including biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as the latest developments and advancements in scientific research.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel motivated and empowered to participate actively in lessons.
  • Regularly assess student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, quizzes, practical experiments, and coursework.
  • Facilitate practical work and experiments to provide students with hands-on opportunities to explore scientific concepts, develop their investigative skills.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance your teaching skills, subject knowledge, and pedagogical approaches.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working as a teacher within an educational setting.
  • Original or certified copies of your degree certificates relevant to teaching science (e.g., Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Education, PGCE).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) certificate or evidence of completion of a recognized teacher training program.
  • Hold relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or a related field.
  • Are passionate about supporting the learning and development of student and making a positive difference in their lives.
