Product Developer

Our client a leading design & manufacturing company based in Wickford are recruiting a Product Developer for their growing department. The ideal candidate would come from a manufacturing background.

As the Product Developer you will play a key role in the conception, design and development of new products from ideation through to production. You will collaborate closely with cross functional teams including procurement, sales, marketing & manufacturing to bring innovative ideas to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and own product development projects from concept to launch, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends and consumer needs.
  • Collaborate with management to create product concepts and protypes
  • Evaluate product designs for feasibility, functionality and cost effectiveness.
  • Source and manage relationships with external vendors and suppliers
  • Oversee product testing and validation to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Optimise product designs for manufacturability and scalability
  • Develop and maintain detailed product documentation including specifications, drawing and assembly instructions.
  • Stay updated on industry developments and technological advancements relevant to product development.
  • Work with procurement on product saving where significant design/material changes are required.
  • Be included within the management and attend weekly management meetings.

Requirements:

  • Qualification in Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Development or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (7 years) in product development within the manufacturing field.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant design tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes & materials
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Passion for innovation and product excellence
  • Experience with Agile or similar development methodologies is a plus

The salary is between £50,000 - £55,000 per annum depending on experience, there is also an opportunity to earn a quarterly team bonus.

This is an office-based role offering free onsite parking.
