ASEND tuition supports SEND pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or don't have a school place. We are looking for a skilled therapeutic Tutor with SEN experience to support a non-verbal autistic pupil in Eastcote.

Pay: £38 per hour

What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for inspirational tutors to support young people with SEND in Hillingdon. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, medical issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream, special school or adulthood.

We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The pupil

Our pupil is a 10-year-old autistic girl who brings joy into every interaction. She faces significant delays in the areas of personal and social development, communication, problem-solving and fine motor skills. To enhance her understanding, she relies on visuals and objects. Structured teaching methods, along with PECS, play a crucial role in her learning journey. She loves spending time with adults that she is familiar with, she also enjoys accessing sensory experiences, singing, going into the lightroom and engaging with soft play and messy play.

An ideal candidate is a skilled SEN tutor with experience in ASD, knowledge of Makaton and PECS is important to help her. Being friendly and upbeat is key to making a happy and fun learning space for our young learner to continue her education.

About you:

  • You'll have experience with SEN: Autism, severe learning difficulties, PECS and Makaton
  • You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with pupils in a therapeutic way
  • You'll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
  • You'll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with pupils and other professionals
  • Ideally, have some experience in helping pupils with their learning
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
  • Use a person-centred approach in their work
  • Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
  • Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.
