Senior CAD Technician

The Role

As a Senior CAD Technician, you will be responsible for producing clear, concise, and accurate project drawings, 3D models, and other intelligent design outputs in accordance with project timelines and agreed estimates. Leveraging your knowledge and experience, you will play a key role in ensuring effective and efficient project delivery, supporting the wider UU design team, mentoring junior CAD staff, and enhancing the overall efficiency of the design team.

Your expertise will be instrumental in our journey towards achieving UU's ambitious objectives
Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce CAD drawings and models on time and within budget, ensuring compliance with UU CAD standards.
  • Collaborate with the CAD Lead on technical management and development of CAD applications, and escalate any delivery issues.
  • Support the production of CAD estimates and contribute to the development of standard designs.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal clients, discipline leads, engineers, delivery teams, and the information management team.
  • Contribute to the improvement of UU's Engineering CAD standards and procedures, and ensure training and development requirements are met.

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified to HNC/HND level in relevant subject or have equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Experience of providing technical advice and influencing the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
  • Good level of technical knowledge of CAD systems and technologies; in particular BIM, 3D Modelling, and intelligent P&ID systems.
  • Demonstrable training and mentoring skills and the ability to develop junior CAD colleagues
  • Hold a current UK/EU driving licence.
