Grafton Recruitment are delighted to be working with a global manufacturing business, based in the East Midlands, who are looking for a General Manager to join their team. Our client is looking to speak with candidates who have a background in workholding, CNC machining or bespoke manufacturing.

As General Manager you will support the Director in executing the company strategy by overseeing production operations, managing the technical sales team, and driving business growth.

This key position ensures that business functions run smoothly and sales target are met.

THE ROLE:

Some of your responsibilities as a General Manager:

  • Support MD in planning and implementing strategies to achieve growth and profitability goals.
  • Partner with senior management to evaluate organizational performance within key operational areas, including production, design, and sales, in order to identify growth opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Manage the technical sales team to maximise revenue, achieve sales targets, and expand the customer base.
  • Monitor financial performance and key metrics, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients and business partners.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies, monitor sales performance, and provide guidance to the technical sales team to optimise results.
  • Oversee production operations to ensure alignment with the company's strategic goals.
  • Step in for the Director when necessary, making high level decisions and overseeing critical projects.

THE CANDIDATE:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in senior management role, with a strong background in sales and business development.
  • Experience in the engineering manufacturing, tooling or workholding sectors.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with experience managing teams and ensuring efficient operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Management, Engineering, Sales, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of market and current industry trends.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to think strategically and plan effectively.
  • Openness to traveling within the UK and internationally.
