Our client an established and privately owned company with a purpose to be a leader in the transition to a sustainable world have an exciting opportunity for an Import - Export Compliance Officer. As an Import-Export Compliance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the company's commitment to compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements. This is a hands-on role with primary responsibility to oversee and manage import-export activities while ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs, ultimately contributing to the efficient and secure movement of goods across borders. The company offers an excellent range of benefits including 25 days holiday + BH and they have an early finish on Fridays.

Role: Import - Export Compliance Officer Where: Southampton outskirts Salary: To £38,000pa dependant on experience

Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of the preparation, submission and review of import-export documentation including customs declarations, licenses, permits, and shipping records, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Sample check declarations submitted by customs agents to ensure their accuracy and

compliance with the relevant regulations.

  • Liaise with customs agents, Group Tax and if required customs authorities to resolve any non-compliance issues identified.
  • Submission of TSS declarations for the movement of goods from the UK into Northern Ireland.
  • Implement appropriate procedures and sign-off to ensure the accuracy of relevant master-data, including, commodity codes, preferential country of origin, weights, etc.
  • Sample check the accuracy of the master-data and liaise with the relevant functional teams.
  • Prepare and maintain certification of Preferential Country of Origin (COO) required for export markets.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders where Preferential COO cannot be certified, the irrecoverable duty cost implications for export customers can be significant.
  • Conduct risk assessments on import-export operations, identifying potential compliance issues.
  • Review compliance with internal policies, procedures, and external regulations, reporting any noncompliance and recommending corrective actions.

You will need:

  • Proven hands-on experience in import-export compliance, customs regulations, and
  • international trade.
  • Knowledge of rules of origin, preferential and non-preferential.
  • Experience of CDS and TSS systems and ideally AIS (Republic of Ireland).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple actions and prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to investigate and understand international trade regulations, identify key requirements, design, and implement appropriate policies and processes.
  • Ability to problem solve independently and identify appropriate solutions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
