Our client, a reputable educational institution based in Clitheroe, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced School Caretaker to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who is committed to providing a safe and well-maintained environment for students and staff.

As the School Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the school premises, ensuring a clean and functional environment. Your duties will include performing general handyman tasks, conducting routine inspections, and coordinating with external contractors for any necessary repairs. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining security measures and health and safety standards within the school. Working hours are 6am to 9am and 3pm to 6pm.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in caretaking or facilities management, with experience in a similar role. You should possess excellent practical skills, including basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical knowledge. A proactive and organised approach to work is essential, along with the ability to prioritise tasks and work well under pressure. Previous experience in a school or educational setting is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducting regular inspections of the premises to identify maintenance requirements

Ensuring the school premises are clean, safe, and well-presented at all times

Handling minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as painting, plumbing, and carpentry

Coordinating with external contractors for more complex repairs and maintenance

Overseeing the security of the premises and implementing appropriate measures

Responding promptly to emergencies and dealing with any urgent repairs or maintenance issues

Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance work and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations

Requirements:

Proven experience in caretaking or facilities management

Strong practical skills, including basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical knowledge

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Effective communication skills, including the ability to liaise with colleagues, contractors, and external agencies

Knowledge of health and safety regulations in relation to buildings and premises
