Junior Project Manager

Posted by Inspiring Interns & Graduates .

We have an exceptional opportunity for a Junior Project Manager to be a part of one of the UK's fastest growing vaping and CBD retailers in the UK and join our dynamic eCommerce developer team.
This role is remote (occasional face-to-face at a convenient location once per month) paying £30K - £35K per annum.

The company
Founded in 2014 in London, our client has quickly grown into a group of companies encompassing high street retail, distribution, manufacturing and an analytical laboratory. Its retail brand is a multi-channel business hub with more than 56 retail stores in the UK and an ambitious store opening programme for the future. Their aim is to shape and professionalize the industry by becoming the leading high street retail chain in Europe.

The job
We have a requirement for a Junior Project Manager to come on board for the day to day running of our Jira ticketing system. We are looking for a proactive team member who will thrive in a busy, constantly evolving project environment. The right candidate will have the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, identify tasks that are a priority for the business, and progress tickets to completion.
The environment setup is relatively complex with a number of different systems and store fronts involved. You won't be required to understand the entire setup or what each system does though this is likely to be learnt organically over time.
Primary responsibility will be to manage and keep up with daily ticket updates, making sure that higher priority tickets move through the board first, lower priority tickets make it into sprints when relevant, and any new high priority issues that quickly need to be dealt with make it onto the board to be worked on.
A project board is only as good as the data that's added to it, so the right candidate will have good attention to detail, and will make sure ticket information provides a complete picture of each task. It should be possible to reference each ticket individually and understand what has been done, as well as see, where relevant, how one ticket relates to another.
Keeping tickets moving forward will involve liaison and discussion with other people in the business, but also with an external development agency we use. There are daily stand up, and weekly refinement calls you will be involved in, and we operate 2 week sprints you will be responsible for moving between.
When you join the company the Tech Lead and eCommerce Director will both be fully available to train you in learning the role, and to answer any questions you may have.

Specific Junior Project Manager responsibilities include:

  • Managing day to day progress of tickets on the Jira board
  • Keeping tickets from our board synced with the development agencies board
  • Creating and moving between sprints and setting sprint priorities
  • Liaising and discussing ticket requirements with various parties
  • Attending daily stand up and weekly backlog refinement calls with developers
  • Creating Jira ticket reports for management analytics

The person
To succeed in this role, you will have the following skills and qualities:
Essential

  • Strong understanding of how to effectively manage development projects within the Jira board system.
  • Highly literate, and highly articulate in written and verbal communications. You must be able turn 'tech speak' into clearly understandable communications.
  • A thorough approach and excellent eye for detail in every task undertaken.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and to work with minimal supervision and largely autonomously. You must be a first class project manager, with the ability to prioritise, juggle several work streams at once and work to tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Passionate about working with people and take pride in providing the highest service levels. Able to remain positive, calm and focused when under pressure from developers and site managers.
  • Good, professional, caring manner.
  • You will need to be extremely well organised, a confident communicator and a good organiser of internal and external developers when required.

Desirable

  • Experience of using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahref's and CloudFlare.
  • Knowledge on website hosting technologies.
  • Experience of the vaping and/or CBD industries.
  • Some experience in the use of Magento2 and Shopify platforms.
  • Understanding of the online advertising restrictions (TRPR regulations).
