Relief Support Worker

We are seeking a Support Worker to join a community-based service, providing support to adults and young people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, and autism. The service is dedicated to empowering individuals to enjoy the same rights and choices as everyone else, with a focus on those who have a forensic background.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Provide emotional support and encourage service users to engage in activities, such as drama classes, football teams, and volunteering.
  • Work within houses rented from the council, treating them as homes for the service users with 24-hour support.
  • Shifts include 9am-4pm, 4pm-11pm, and sleep-in shifts ending at 9am the following day.
  • No personal care is involved; the role focuses on emotional support and activity engagement.
  • Travel between service locations in South Manchester, all within a 10-minute walking distance from each other.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Social care experience is not essential; we value a non-judgemental attitude, patience, and the ability to maintain boundaries.
  • Outgoing personality with a willingness to get involved in activities and support service users.
  • Strong planning skills and the ability to conduct risk assessments.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and care.
  • A sense of humour and a commitment to supporting individuals with complex needs.
