Health and Safety Officer
- Reports to: Head of Estates
- Location: Weybridge
- Salary: Up to £34,000
- Type: 37 hours per week
Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Weybridge.
Role Purpose
- Develop and promote a positive health and safety culture among staff, students, and contractors.
- Oversee health and safety, fire safety, and related policy updates, monitoring, and inspections.
- Conduct and ensure compliance with risk assessments and other safety procedures.
Main Duties
- Update health & safety policies and procedures to reflect regulatory or operational changes.
- Maintain comprehensive, statutory-compliant records.
- Develop and manage communication channels for timely health & safety information.
- Provide regular written health & safety reports to Senior Leadership and Governors.
- Report to funding bodies and internal audit as required.
- Operate and maintain statistics and records for accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Conduct health & safety inspections and make improvement recommendations.
- Advise on and monitor compliance for risk assessments, ensuring legal and regulatory adherence.
- Ensure effective fire safety policies and adequate first aid coverage.
Requirements
- NEBOSH/IOSH Certificate or equivalent
- Experience of Health and Safety legislation
- Experience undertaking of risk assessments
- Driving license and own transport
- First Aid at Work Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Able to pass a DBS check
- No previous convictions
