Finance Operations Team Leader

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Finance Operations Team Leader to join their team in Manchester.

This role is pivotal in the reconciliation of all internal and external account transfers, supervision of exception processes, stakeholder relationships, and ad-hoc project work. The successful candidate will be the key contact for the business regarding specialist technical knowledge for Reconciliations and will be responsible for collating and analysing statistics and KPI's.

What you'll do:

As a Finance Team Leader, your role will be central to the success of our client's operations. You will be responsible for supporting management in driving the Reconciliation strategy forward, acting as the first point of contact for controllers for all queries and escalations. Your ability to produce insightful reporting and MI will be crucial in analysing and driving team performance. You will also have the opportunity to work on exciting Reconciliation projects away from BAU, positioning yourself as a subject matter expert within the organisation.

  • Support management in driving Reconciliations' strategy forward
  • Be first point of contact for controllers for all queries and escalations
  • Produce reporting and MI to analyse and drive team performance
  • Work on Reconciliation projects away from BAU to act as a Reconciliations SME
  • Provide accurate advice and information to both internal and external sources in a timely and professional manner
  • Prioritise workload effectively throughout the day to ensure all SLA's are adhered to
  • Continually look for ways of improving efficiencies, providing potential solutions and follow through to implementation
  • Coach the team on any identified training gaps and errors made throughout the month

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Finance Team Leader position brings demonstrable experience within Reconciliations/Operational Finance along with a solid understanding of Reconciliation processes. Your confident communication skills will enable you to engage effectively at all levels within the organisation. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel is essential, while a qualification or progress towards an AAT, Accounting or Finance Degree would be advantageous. Your high level of analytical skills and attention to detail will be key in evaluating complex issues and identifying anomalies.

  • Demonstrable experience of working within Reconciliations/Operational Finance along with a good understanding of Reconciliations processes
  • Confident communicator at all levels e.g. Team meetings, manager comms, head of department escalations
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Qualification or working towards AAT, Accounting or Finance Degree would be an advantage
  • Working knowledge of general ledger accounting systems would be an advantage
  • High level of analytical skills and attention to detail
