Interim Senior Payroll Officer
Morgan Hunt are working with a Housing Association who are looking to recruit a Senior Payroll Officer. This is a 4-month contract role paying up to £22 p/hour. This role will be based 4 days p/week remote and one day in the Staffordshire office.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Payroll Officer:
- Lead payroll projects, including National Minimum Wage compliance, Pension Reviews, and Holiday Premium Implementation.
- Provide support to Payroll Officers and assist the Payroll Manager with project delivery and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with payroll and pension legislation, including HMRC regulations.
- Assist with payroll audits, system maintenance, and upgrades to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Oversee payroll delivery, including processing adjustments and deductions, expense claims, and employee-related changes.
- Support payroll year-end processes, third-party payments, and salary increases.
Previous Skills and Experience of the Senior Payroll Officer:
- Experience working in a payroll team and managing payroll projects, including compliance reviews.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail, with advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups).
- Ability to work within processes, meet deadlines, and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory obligations.
- Ideally CIPP qualified (or working towards this with relevant experience).
