An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development professional to join one of the world's leading law firms to provide focused business development and marketing support to the partners and associates of the firm's Consumer Goods & Retail and Sports & Entertainment sectors.

The firm's marketing and business development function is seen as pivotal in making this strategy a reality. The team works strategically with the partnership with the aim of making the firm the global law firm of choice for the world's leading businesses. The consumer goods and retail and sports and entertainment groups at the firm are a multi-disciplinary, global teams highly experienced in dealing with the legal and commercial issues faced by clients operating across these sectors. The team includes lawyers with sector expertise in key jurisdictions worldwide enabling clients to benefit from a truly integrated network. The groups have great ambition, making bold choices and with growth in mind, and you will play an integral part in delivering on the sector's objectives and plans for the future. Ensuring effective marketing spend in line with budget, the successful applicant will work across key product areas and key offices to oversee the delivery of a truly global strategy, with a particular focus on the development of key client relationships. Leveraging the Client Insight and Business Intelligence Team to provide insight on clients and sectors to inform strategic marketing decisions and support client development, the Business Development Manager will lead and work on must-win, matter-specific proposals and will drive and support disciplined client outreach and client relationship activity, fostering a strong client feedback and client listening culture across sectors. On the marketing side, you will work with the Brand, Communications and Marketing team to raise the profile of the firm's Consumer Goods & Retail and Sports & Entertainment capabilities in key markets across the spectrum of marketing and PR channels including social media, conference speaking slots and sponsorships; thought leadership reports, client roundtable discussions and seminars; PR opportunities; memberships of trade bodies. In addition, the role holder will be responsible for overseeing and delivering several international flagship events and for ensuring best practice is being implemented across the legal directory process with the aim of protecting top tier rankings and improving on others.

In order to perform this challenging role successfully, an ideal candidate will have extensive experience in business development, preferably gained within a law firm or professional services environment or within the sector, to include a proven track record of developing and executing successful business development and marketing strategies and initiatives. A highly motivated self-starter and exceptional team player, with excellent relationship-building, communication and presentation skills. the Business Development Manager will be confident, articulate, resilient and focused. A sound knowledge of the relevant sectors and strong technical proficiency and familiarity with tools like CRM and Mergermarket will also be essential.
