Own Brand Product Development Manager

We are seeking an experienced Own Brand Product Development Manager to join a rapidly growing leader in the gifting industry, with several well-known brands within its product portfolio. This dynamic, multi-channel business spans retail stores, eCommerce platforms, and international B2B wholesale. Reporting directly to the Head of Sourcing, this role is pivotal in bringing innovative products to market and ensuring their effective presentation across all channels.

The successful candidate will own and drive the development of the direct-sourced, own-brand products, ensuring they are delivered to customers with clear, compelling propositions. You will work closely with various departments to ensure that products are optimally represented across all sales platforms.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage the product development critical path from initial sign-off to production, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Sourcing to define where new products fit within the existing range and assign them to the appropriate brand.
  • Manage the design and production of white-label product ranges for wholesale customers, adhering to their brand guidelines.
  • Identify unique selling points (USPs) for each product, ensuring these are reflected in packaging design, naming, and product descriptions.
  • Manage translation processes for international markets, ensuring all packaging is correctly localised.
  • Approve all packaging artwork, including descriptions, copy, photography, and technical/legal information.
  • Coordinate digital asset creation (images, content, bullet points) to ensure products are well-represented online.
  • Liaise with factories and stakeholders to monitor critical path progress.
  • Manage the product sample process.
  • Work with the Head of Design to maintain and evolve own brand identities, including packaging design, colour schemes, and overall visual style.
  • Collaborate with account managers to understand customer needs and develop marketing and sell-in materials for the wholesale team, including technical information.
  • Ensure new products are effectively marketed in the wholesale catalogue.
  • Develop key selling points and content for various marketing channels, including social media, email campaigns, and PR efforts.

Key requirements in this role:

  • Strong project management skills with a focus on delivering results.
  • Experience in product marketing and copywriting, particularly for packaging and instruction manuals.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
