Renewable Energy Product Support Engineer / Electrical or Solar Installation Technical Advisor who has a practical, technical background and a head for numbers and theory, with solid communication skills is required for a well-established renewables distribution company based in Milton, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.

Practical experience of PV or electrical installations and/or technical troubleshooting is highly desirable, as is hands-on experience with renewable energy systems, solar PV and/or heat pumps, but these are not essential as the company welcomes applications from a diverse set of professionals. Candidates with a more general electrical or electronics background/engineering qualification will also be considered.

SALARY: up to £35,000 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: This role can be based either from the office in Milton, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire (CB24), or the office in Glasgow (G73). A hybrid option of working 1 day per week from home will also be possible after a probation period.

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Renewable Energy Product Support Engineer / Electrical or Solar Installation Technical Advisor who has a practical, technical background and a head for numbers and theory, with solid communication skills.

As the Renewable Energy Product Support Engineer / Electrical or Solar Installation Technical Advisor you will provide friendly and knowledgeable technical support (pre- and post-sales) for trade customers. You'll also assess existing and new product lines from both practical and theoretical perspectives and keep up to date on regulatory developments and their impacts to the business.

You will be joining a fairly small team and will see the results of your work from day one.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Renewable Energy Product Support Engineer / Electrical or Solar Installation Technical Advisor include:

  • Dealing with trade customers over the phone and via email, answering technical questions about system design ad the range of solar and storage products
  • Covering first line technical support for commissioning or fault finding for products (with support from suppliers)
  • Technical support to the sales team
  • Assist with running technical training sessions and writing technical web copy or articles
  • Assist the purchasing team identify and assess potential products and help write and maintain technical product information
  • Deal with technical questions about the company's in-house design software

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • You will have a practical, technical background and a head for numbers and theory
  • Practical experience of PV or electrical installations and/or technical troubleshooting is highly desirable
  • Hands-on experience with renewable energy systems, especially solar PV and/or heat pumps would be an advantage
  • General electrical or electronics engineering qualifications would be considered
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to take responsibility and show initiative when working autonomously
