Interim Finance Assistant

- Location: Uxbridge - office based (maybe some travel to other offices)
We are seeking an Interim Finance Assistant to support our team with month-end processes and the review of grant-funded projects. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will ensure accurate accounting for income and expenditure and assist with various transaction reviews and reconciliations.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Review grant-funded projects to ensure correct accounting for income and expenditure.
- Analyse all transactions during the 2023/24 period to determine if spend should be capitalised or expensed, referencing supporting documentation and liaising with relevant departments.
- Reconcile grant funding returns with transaction postings to verify correct coding in the finance system.
- Review maintenance and IT costs to identify any expenditure that should be recorded as capital expenditure.
- Examine relevant non-staff expenditure to classify any spend that could be considered prepayments.
- Conduct other transaction reviews and reconciliations as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in an assistant accountant role or similar.
- Understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes.
- Ability to review and reconcile financial transactions accurately.
- Experience with project accounting is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in using finance systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
