Job Description:
We are seeking a Multi-skilled Service Engineer responsible for servicing, commissioning, and installing fire alarm and associated systems in compliance with current regulations. Our client, a leading UK Fire & Security company, is experiencing rapid growth and is seeking skilled Service Engineers to join their expanding team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled routine servicing of fire alarm systems efficiently and in line with company quality standards.
  • Conduct necessary repairs, maintenance, and minor installations at customer premises.
  • Respond promptly to emergency callouts during working hours and support the out-of-hours rota as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, providing clear information on system status, defects, and necessary repairs.
  • Collaborate with service administrators to meet service commitments and plan work schedules, including routine visits and emergency callouts.
  • Manage personal equipment and stock efficiently, ensuring timely reordering of materials as required.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and promptly to comply with company standards.
  • Operate in accordance with health and safety requirements and company policies.
  • Identify potential business leads and suggest system improvements to senior engineers.
  • Attend and engage in company training sessions and identify any further personal training needs.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Independent working ability with strong planning and implementation skills.
  • Proficient in fault diagnosis and rectification of fire alarm systems.
  • Strong communication skills and professional conduct with customers and colleagues.
  • Technical knowledge of fire alarm systems, including BS5839 Pt:1, BFPSA Training, basic electrical safety, and manufacturers' equipment training.
  • Understanding of relevant standards including BS5839 Pt1, BS7671, BS6266, and ISO 9001:2000.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant training and certifications in fire alarm systems (e.g., Notifier, Gent).
  • Knowledge of cable types and containment systems related to fire detection and alarm systems.
